| Samal Island |
Every summer vacation, one
of the most exciting activities that I’m very excited of is to go to the beach
and bond with my family. In Davao Region, one of the most popular summer
destinations is Island Garden City of Samal. The island has many wonderful
beach resorts that offer different summer activities and adventures. Moreover,
Samal Island is located at the Southern part of Mindanao.

It was a weekend of summer
when my family decided to visit Samal Island. From my hometown in Kapalong,
Davao del Norte we traveled two and half hours by land to Sasa Wharf in Davao
City. Since Samal is very known for its beautiful beaches, during weekends or
holidays the queue of vehicles going the island is usually long. In our case,
we waited for almost 20 minutes to get in the barge. Fortunately, the travel
time from Davao to Samal by sea is just 15-20 minutes.
However, our destination was
at Maxima Aquafun Home of Abyss in Barangay Cawag, Peñaplata. So, we traveled for another 30 minutes from the pier
to reach our destination. When we arrived, we were greeted by the staffs of the
resort. They also helped us to settle in our simple cottage that was made of
bamboo. We also paid corkage for the food that we brought.
I really love the beach, so
the first thing that I want to do when we arrived at the resort is to swim.
However, Maxima is not a typical beach resort with a shoreline. It’s like a
cliff. In order to reach the beach, you must use the stairs that is about 100
steps. Since the water is deep, everyone is warned and required to wear a life
vest before going in to the water.
While enjoying the water and
other activities you will feel safe because of the presence of the life guards.
Among the activities that you can enjoy in Maxima are; sliding, crossing the
hanging bridge, jumping in to the water, pawa-water blob, snorkeling and many
more.
Experiencing
Maxima is one of the best summers of the life. I got to enjoy different water
activities and spend time with my family. I would also recommend the resort to
other families because to its good service and amenities to local and foreign
tourist who want to have fun and experience nature.
